Our Sustainable Journey

Our Sustainable Journey

In a world where fast fashion often comes at a significant environmental cost, Love, Lexxi stands out as a beacon of sustainability and ethical manufacturing practices. Caring for the planet isn't just a trend to us; it's a core value ingrained in every aspect of our business operations.

People and the Planet

Located in the heart of Sri Lanka, Love, Lexxi's primary factory is aptly named "garments without gilt." It is more than just a production hub; it's a testament to our commitment to ethical manufacturing. Being Wrap Certified (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) ensures that the factory adheres to strict guidelines, including fair wages, no child or forced labor, and a work environment free of discrimination and sweatshop practices.

But our sustainability journey doesn't end with ethical labor practices. It extends to every aspect of our product lifecycle. Leftover materials from bra production are ingeniously repurposed to create matching panties and power mesh for Wash Bags. This not only minimizes waste but also adds value to materials that would otherwise be discarded.

Our packaging also reflects our dedication to sustainability. Love, Lexxi's shipping boxes, by EcoEnclose, are made from biodegradable materials and branded with ink derived from black algae.

Why is black algae ink important?

Black ink is on almost everything. Unfortunately, most black pigment is made with carbon black and is generated from fossil fuels. Algae Ink™ is a revolutionary ink that uses algae cells for pigments, making it safer and cleaner to work with, and more compatible with the recycling and composting process. Algae Ink is a net negative carbon technology, with each bucket of ink sequestering the same carbon as two trees.

Iconic & Earth-Friendly

The iconic red Love, Lexxi stickers and tissue paper, by NoIssue, are fully compostable, ensuring that every element of our packaging leaves a positive, eco-friendly footprint. Even our shipping tape is water-activated and biodegradable, eliminating plastic waste from our shipping process!

When it comes to the materials used in our undergarments, we spare no effort in ensuring they meet the highest standards of environmental safety. Our fabrics are OEKOTEX certified, guaranteeing that they are free from harmful chemicals. Additionally, being certified by ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) and GRS (Global Recycle Standard) underscores our commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing.

Avoid landfills

In the intimates industry, there is a standard % of bras from production that are either “outside of tolerance” or damaged from multiple factors. Additionally, when customers exchange bras for smaller or larger sizes, sometimes that bra(s) we receive back at HQ that are not passed for resale in quality control.

Around 18mm bras make their way into landfills every few years in the U.S. alone.

If bras are made with fabrics like polyester, nylon, synthetic lace or mesh, they can take up to 40 years to decompose, and in the process they leak toxins into the soil and waterways.

That’s why we’ve partnered with recycling & down-cycling organizations like Apparel Impact to help combat this issue and keep undergarments out of landfills (all brands).

We have more work to do

We're making strides towards an even more sustainable collection and will continue to learn as our brand and intimates evolve. With a relentless focus on ethical manufacturing, waste reduction, and environmentally friendly materials, we continue to pave the way for a more sustainable fashion industry and we're hopeful for what the future holds.

Sustainability isn't a buzzword to us; it's a way of life.

Join us on our journey towards a greener, more sustainable future—one bra at a time.
